Take a Break

It has been very long since I last uploaded that during this whole time, my school year ended, and it is the beginning of a new academic year. During the past few months, I have not been very productive; hence, I plan to be on schedule strictly and never procrastinate things from now on. ( which I plan to follow with the best of my efforts)

In the past few months, I have also experienced one of my firsts: a reading slump. A reading slump is a phase where the reader is not motivated to read books or the story doesn’t engage the reader in the book. I must say, I didn’t believe in reading slumps before. I thought people were too busy or lazy to read and named that term as a reading slump. (Boy, Was I wrong). I love reading so much to the point where I used to make an all-nighter to complete my favorite book, but during my reading slump, I thought I can never read a book ever again (It’s a little dramatic, but that’s how it felt). Now that I have experienced it, it gives me the thought that everyone needs a break from doing what they love because taking breaks can provide us with the realization of how much we love doing it and appreciate the act of doing it.

Hence, if you ever experience a creativity block or doing something you love doesn’t spark your interest as it did before, don’t force yourself to do it because it only weakens your fondness towards it even more. Taking a break and enjoying the little things around you is what you might sometimes need (and it isn’t the end of the world if you do so 🙂. ) Have a good day!

The Big Swing

Hey people! How’s life? ( I know it’s a bit cliché) My life is brilliant. Today, I am here to express my feelings about the changes I have been observing in my family and the world, so it also includes you people here. (If you are not an alien) And Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Triggy, and I am a four-legged creature living a happy life in this two-legged world. In other words, I am a dog( That’s me in the photo above folks!)

Now, I bet everyone in this world has heard of this word: Corona virus If you haven’t I have no words and you have to agree there have been some visible changes that I too have been able to smell. First things first, people are not going out of their houses. They are literally locked up and are stepping out for getting food and my walk. And I am delighted because of this change; I get to spend more time with my family. (and more cuddle time! Hurrah!)

Though my family are at home mostly, they seem to be going crazy as they started speaking to themselves with a mirror in front of them. ( I remember my friend saying the mirror is called a “Comp’wuf!’uter”) Even that’s ok, I guess, but the weirdest part is, my two-legged sister (who also started speaking with herself) suddenly gets up from her place and dances which startles me extremely that I get up from my nap and start barking to calm her. But she seems to be enjoying herself, so I calm down instead.

Continuing with the changes…

I stopped getting my ice creams, which is absolutely detestable. My family says ” Ice creams will lead to your ill health, Triggy. Especially in these times”, and they stop the conversation. I don’t know what “these times” are but I know one thing for sure, I hate these times.

But you know something, I have come to realize that if you lost something, you would get something equally or more worthful to the stuff you have lost. Take my case, for instance, though I have lost my ice creams, I got more time to spend with my lovely family, which is more valuable than thousands of ice creams.

So, many things are changing and will be changing, which will be good or bad for us, but it depends on what you choose to believe. I believe in the good and you? Let me know in the comments. My family will convey them to me. Have a great day! Bye for now! Woof!

The Lockdown Battle

Its been three weeks my school has been shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Although I can’t go to school, my school has been conducting online classes through a webinar. Our classes start at nine in the morning and end in the afternoon. It’s been a new experience for me as it’s not every day that we get to sit at home and attend school. It was fun for a couple of days, but it has its cons. Online classes do not fulfil all the categories of a day school. I miss my cronies a lot and all the little things we used to do.

I can’t step out of my home except when it’s absolutely necessary. Every day, I used to go out for playing with my friends in the neighbourhood. Now, I can’t. So, its been a very exacerbating dull couple of weeks.

But I am trying my level best to distract myself out of the boredom. I have taken out my crafts set from the dusty corner of my room and involved myself in making some creative things. I have been reading and completed two novels in the last week. I am also trying to learn Origami(it’s not as easy as it looks, a few suggestions may help)and learn some programming. (and I have made my brother a habit of reading other books excluding his studies. Thank you, Rick Riordan! He is very studious. My mom was incredulous after seeing him.)

The second most important thing that I miss from actually not going to school is sports. You can’t have a football/badminton match through online. I love games, and momentarily I can’t play any outdoor game, and the only option I have is to play Scrabble or Jenga. In my country, they have announced a lockdown for 21 days. I have read somewhere that 21 days is needed to learn a new habit. So, I have started doing yoga which helps me to keep my mind at peace and attain more concentration.

I like to be optimistic and see the good in the worst situation, so even though I am missing many things I love, I have something to look forward to every day(I meant yoga and the stuff I have been learning).

Presently, our world is suffering from a pandemic, so let’s stay at home and use this time productively to learn something and relax a little bit from our busy life. Hence, the first thing you should do now is to go get your blankie and take a nap. 🙂

My ‘Petite’ Profit Book

The sales were excellent! As I wrote in my previous post that my school is conducting an activity on profit and loss for a better understanding of the concept, we have completed the project successfully this month. Our group had five people who were engrossed in different roles and including me, managing it. We decided to keep two items on the menu, and they were Bhel-Puri ( A tasty Indian street snack) and Choco-bites (bites of three different flavors of chocolate.Yum!).

When we started the sales, very few came to buy food from our stall, mostly because the stall next to us had a more attractive dish ( Chocolate lollipops with sprinkles). So, we shifted our booth to some other place outside near the exit where many people go out( a huge advantage). And hence, the sales began! We tried our level best to sell our items, and for a moment, we forgot our roles. I was a manager, but I became a marketer, server, and whatnot. Our parts weren’t necessary. We tried many different ways of marketing to attract our customers, and all of them worked! ( We also had to resist the urge to eat our food or else we would have eaten everything without selling anything!)

There was also some competition, but we managed to sell every scrap of our food ( thanks to our marketing skills, people loved chocolate!). After selling everything, there was still a lot of time. So, we created a new dish( bread with choco spread) on the spot and changed our menu. It was a massive hit, and we managed to collect more money with less investment.

After the sales, I calculated the profit and loss ( Obviously, that was my job. I love Mathematics! ). We were in profit, and we collected double the money we invested.

Overall, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed every moment of this practical learning experience. We donated our profits to set up a library in a government school on behalf of our school.

We get to learn new things from every experience in our lives. That day, I got to know that in business the most important thing is the way we talk to the customers and the marketing strategies, which makes us a successful businessman(although there is a more attractive dish at another place far away!).

Hope you had a wonderful 2019 and lets welcome 2020 with a big smile taking all the memorable moments with us ahead.

A Journey Within

Today, I have come across an incident. While I was travelling to school by the school bus, I heard a girls’s sobs. When I turned back, it was a girl who never cries in our van. Before I could react, a group of four came and tried to pacify her. I couldn’t muster the courage to talk to her even though she is a lot younger than me.

Basically, I am a silent girl in the bus. Mostly because I have no one of my age (everyone is little buds!), but I never felt sad or alone. Firstly, I love to spend time alone in the bus because I could let my mind travel everywhere and think and do whatever I want. I feel free and peaceful for the complete hour of travel. Though I am not at all like that in my school or at home. I speak to everyone, and I think I have a lot of friends.

The girl in my bus has a disease known as Vitiligo (white patches on the skin. I googled this word). So, she was crying because she had no friends to talk to at school and no one wants to sit with her. I thought that even I had to face that situation a long time ago.

Long back, when I first went to school in Chennai(India), everything was different around me. Everyone there were speaking a totally different language, and I could only communicate in English with them. But my English wasn’t as good as it is now. I had faced a lot of problems. Sometimes people say that I become an introvert after going there. Even I feel it sometimes, but if I hadn’t gone there, I would have missed a lot of things, experiences and friends in my life. My English would also have not improved. Even though I faced a lot of problems at first, later on, I realized that you don’t need to cry for friends or any other things because sooner or later they will all come to you. But it may take some time.

Crying or feeling sad about it, changes nothing. So, instead, if we try hard and excel in our activities, friends and people automatically come to you. It worked for me, it may work for her too.

That day I couldn’t console her, and I will make sure I won’t make that mistake again. But I am expressing my thoughts here so that I can remember this incident forever. We should always keep smiling and have a good day. (Don’t cry for anything!)

Outside the Classroom

Today, in my Mathematics class our teacher was teaching us Percentages and, Profit and Loss. To better understand the concept, she had planned an activity for our class. She told us that we can set up food stalls with different and creative recipes and sell the food to other pupils. On that day the canteen won’t work but instead, they will help us in making the recipes. Each group should contain 5-6 members in which, one person is in charge of one role. On the day of the activity, each group should note down their sales, profit and loss. If there is a loss in the business, they have to manage to sell the other items through discounts. I am looking forward to this activity because it’s exciting and innovative, and also are based on two of my favourite things( Food and Mathematics! I seriously love them.)

Our motive behind this project is that every student can get a realistic view of percentages and its applications. Studies should not always be bounded to the classrooms, but should also contain engrossing activities like this, to make the learner more comfortable with the subject. It also encourages a student’s overall development.

I am excited about this activity, and I am feeling like a ‘petit’ businesswoman handling all these things. In this project, my role is in the accounts side ( And I am so happy about it.) and my cronies, will be marketing and selling the eatables. I hope all goes well and our stalls will make a lot of profit.

Time is Precious !

The literary month had gone very well and I have participated in most of the competitions. For me, Winning is not important but participation is necessary. After the Literary month, there was a fest that was hosted by my school called ‘ UDBHAV’, in which around 150 schools took part. It was a grand success. I participated in One-act play English. I received the lead role and our group won second place in the competition. I was stunned by the performance of the first group.

Just as the fest came to the end, I gave my Half Yearly examinations. I performed excellently. But, because of all these events and exams at our school, I was not able to manage my time with other activities and my passions. I have a lot of hobbies and passions like Book reading, Doing crafts, Music and Blogging too! I realised that I wasn’t managing my time properly.

So, I have started keeping a schedule and allotted time to all my activities as best as I can. ( Though I don’t know for how much time I will stay to it. I am a slow changer🙂.) Besides, I have also started reading a book series by the author Rick Riordan named ‘ Heroes of Olympus‘. It is a very interesting novel series that roams around Greek and Roman mythology. If you are a fan of Adventure and Mystery books, I recommend this book series.

It was fun writing another post after a long break. It is necessary to be organised and manage time efficiently so that we can keep our tasks up to date. I love reading and I believe you do too. Have a great time and fun. Keep smiling 🙂

Work Without ‘Reward’

Last Monday, my school declared the student council results. It took three days for them to decide, as it was a tough competition. I was prepared to take the results sportingly. Just before the school closed, we had a special assembly where students waited for results with a lot of anticipation.

I have nominated myself as the literary ambassador of the school and I WON! I was on cloud nine at that moment and my parents gave me a treat. I will get my complete responsibility tomorrow, as tomorrow is our school’s investiture ceremony. I have also the entire editorial team for magazines and soft boards with me.

I am not giving complete credit to myself. I also do not think the result I got is only because of my hard work. It is always good to work without expecting any reward. Therefore, that day I understood that whatever I do, I have to do it with my best efforts and not expect any reward for it. It is important to give our best and not be anxious about the consequence.

Next month is the literary month where literary ambassadors will take most of the duties, i.e. my compeer and me. 🙂 🙂

My Unexpected Challenge

Today I woke up with a fresh start thinking that I will win in the school’s elections because I realized the other day that I was the only one nominating from the girls. Even though my class is a little boring nowadays, the student council was my only other interesting thing except my two friends. When I reached school, I got to know that I am not the only one nominating for the post. Another girl who is one year older than me also nominated. She is a strong opponent and she got many appreciations earlier.

This is the unexpected challenge I have encountered today. These kinds of challenges always make our day interesting and our life will not be mundane. So, we need to welcome the challenges and face it with a broad smile. ( And I need to even improve my campaigning and let me see what happens tomorrow.)
